Every time we use a language, whether we are speaking, listening, reading, or writing, we do it in a context. The setting we are in, the tone we wish to communicate, and how others respond to us all have an impact on the nature of the linguistic choices we make. If you don’t understand the meaning of words, you can often guess their meanings from the context, the words and phrases that are around them.
